Exciting News From
The Greylock Lodge
As many of you know, the lodge was for sale, and this was going to be the last season. Good news is we have found a buyer and the lodge will remain open. We are booking reservations for the 2026 season. Long time rider and volunteer trail maintenance advocate Scott McFate and Valerie Waterland have purchased the lodge and will continue the legacy and high standards that customers of the Greylock lodge are accustomed to. Scott brings with him a vast experience and knowledge of high mountain trail riding, rider mentorship, trail maintenance and what it takes to minimize adverse impact on trail systems. Scott and I will be working together this season while we transition ownership and management of the lodge. 2026 is shaping up to be a another awesome year!
Scott is a dedicated advocate for the outdoors and a seasoned leader who seamlessly blends a professional drive for excellence with a lifelong commitment to land stewardship. Scott brings a unique perspective to every project—one shaped by the discipline and perseverance required both in the workforce and on the trail.
Beyond his professional achievements, Scott is perhaps most at home in the backcountry. His deep passion for the outdoors is matched only by his love for off-road motorcycle riding, a pursuit that has taken him through some of the most challenging and beautiful landscapes the world has to offer.
Scott’s connection to the land goes far beyond recreation; he is a firm believer in "giving back to the dirt." His contributions include:
Dedicated Stewardship: Many years of volunteer service focused on motorized multi-use trail maintenance, ensuring that public lands remain accessible, safe, and sustainable for all users.
Technical Expertise: Applying the same precision he uses in his professional life to the physical demands of trail clearing, erosion control, and habitat preservation.
Community Advocacy: Working alongside fellow enthusiasts and land managers to promote responsible recreation and the long-term health of our natural resources.
Whether he is navigating a technical single-track trail on his motorcycle or leading a team through a complex project, Scott embodies a spirit of adventure and a profound respect for the environment. He remains a vocal champion for the outdoor community, dedicated to preserving the beauty and accessibility of our wild spaces for years to come.
